    a)  Citadel Broadcasting Lansing Internal Internship Program

       

        Fall 2008: two interns from Michigan State University

        Fall 2008: two interns from Specs Howard School of Broadcasting

        Spring 2009: two interns from Michigan State University

       

       One former intern was hired as a part time receptionist/promotions person and is currently employed by Citadel Broadcasting in Lansing.

 

        Citadel Lansing has its own internship program run by the Promotion Director in conjunction with Michigan State University through Spartan Talk Network, an online employment/internship site maintained by the University. Internships are also available to other surrounding universities, colleges and high schools. The participant interns duties include, but are not limited to: attending live remote broadcasts & station events, observing on air, production/copywriting departments, completing written assignments, organizing/recruiting/conducting a focus group, various office tasks, running errands and stocking the station vehicles, interacting with listeners, and assist in promotions.

 

B)   MABF CAREER FAIR AT CENTRAL MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY

 

      October 7, 2008, a Citadel Sales Manager represented the stations at a career fair sponsored by the       Michigan Association of Broadcasters Foundation held at Central Michigan University.  This career fair was promoted exclusively as a broadcast career fair.  A wide variety of students were present as well as other aspiring professionals.  Many resumes were received for both on air and other positions.  Some were for permanent positions, others for internships.

                                                                                                                       

        C)   MABF CAREER FAIR AT SPECS HOWARD SCHOOL OF BROADCAST ARTS

 

      October 16, 2008, Citadel Promotions Director represented the stations at a career fair sponsored by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Foundation held at Specs Howard.  This career fair was promoted exclusively as a broadcast career fair.  A wide variety of students were present as well as other aspiring professionals.  Many resumes were received for both on air and other positions.  Some were for permanent positions, others for internships.

 

        D)  EAST LANSING HIGH SCHOOL JOURNALISM CLASS TOUR

 

January 7, 2009, Citadel Promotions Director conducted a tour for East Lansing’s High School that included access to studios and station air personalities.  She explained to them that we also have engineers, IT, sales and office staff positions at the radio stations in addition to air personalities. 

 

        E)   ELLIOTT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL JOB SHADOW

 

 February 17, 2009, Citadel On-Air Personality hosted Elliott Elementary School student as job shadow for on air shift.  The student had an opportunity to participate in an on air broadcast and was given information on what education is required to be a successful on air broadcaster.

 

 

 

 

                                                                                                                                                                                                       

        F)  GLBC CAREER FAIR AT MICHIGAN ASSOCIATION OF BROADCASTERS

 

 March 11, 2009, Citadel Regional Business Manager represented the stations at a career fair sponsored by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Foundation held at the Michigan Association of Broadcaster’s Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  This career fair was promoted exclusively as a broadcast career fair.  A wide variety of students were present as well as other aspiring professionals.  Many resumes were received for both on air and other positions.  Some were for permanent positions, other for internships. Over 150 students were in attendance.

 

G)        MICHIGAN FAIRS & FESTIVALS AT LANSING COMMUNITY COLLEGE

 

April 23, 2009, Citadel Regional President represented the stations at a Workshop at Lansing Community College in which he had the opportunity to present to business leaders and students concerning alternate methods of reaching diverse groups of young people using media.  Employment opportunities were among the topics discussed.  The event included a job fair.

 

H)        MICHIGAN FAIRS & FESTIVALS AT WATERFORD

 

 April 23, 2009, Director of Sales represented the stations at a Workshop in which she had the opportunity to present to business leaders and students concerning alternate methods of reaching diverse groups of young people using media.  Employment opportunities were among the topics discussed.  The event included a job fair.
